Fine Motor Intervention
Many children have difficulty using their hands effectively and efficiently for coordination and dexterity. They may have difficulty with or avoid drawing skills, using scissors, buttoning, or stringing beads. The small hand muscles may not have the strength, coordination or dexterity that is needed. OT’s utilize knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics and neurology to understand the foundational components that may be lacking in a child’s hand functioning. Through therapeutic intervention a child’s hands can get stronger and more coordinated thereby allowing them to experience greater mastery, increased skill and independence

Gross Motor Intervention
Many children have difficulty with the gross motor milestones of crawling, walking, running or jumping. They can either demonstrate delays in achieving these milestones, limited quality of smooth coordinated movements or have difficulty keeping up with peers of the same age. Children may avoid climbing activities, playgrounds or sports that other children their age find highly rewarding. Either an OT or a PT would be the appropriate professional for your child’s needs in this area. Please call our office to discuss which service might better serve your child.
