Early Intervention and Preschool Services
Early Intervention
(EI) (Babies to 3 yrs of age)
Donna Klein & Associates, Inc. is an approved NYS provider and has a contract with Westchester County to provide Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy services. We provide these services in your home, preschool or day care center as decided upon by you and the Early Intervention program.
The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is a public program for infants and toddlers with special needs. Children with diagnosed conditions that lead to developmental delays (i.e. cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome) are eligible for the EIP. Children with no diagnosis but have delays in development may be eligible for the EIP if their delays are serious enough.
If you have concerns about your child’s development, you can call Westchester County Department of Health Early Intervention Program at (914) 813-5094 to refer your child. Someone else can help you make the referral to the EIP if you wish. If your child is found to be eligible for services by someone approved to perform these evaluations, you, Westchester County staff, and other team members will make a plan to help your child and your family.
Early Intervention services as authorized by Westchester County are provided at no cost to you. The county will arrange for the services to be provided and will choose the provider based on the needs of your child and family. Your child’s health insurance may be used to cover some of the costs. All other costs for the EIP services are paid for by your county and New York State.
Early Intervention services are provided where it’s best for the child – in places such as your home, day care, preschool or other community setting. The EIP covers the cost of early intervention services only. The EIP does not pay for day care or other fees charged by community settings.
Committee on Preschool Special Education
(CPSE) (Children 3 to 5 yrs of age)
Donna Klein & Associates, Inc. is an approved NYS provider for CPSE services. We provide Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy services through CPSE. This is a county and state funded program for children from 3 to 5 years old to receive intervention at no cost to the family. Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy are only 2 of the services offered. An evaluation is performed by your local school district to identify what type of intervention your child qualifies for. A parent can either call our office or the CPSE program at their local school district directly. This service is managed by the Committee on Preschool Special Education in each child’s local school district.
Preschool services are provided where it’s best for the child – in places such as your home, day care, preschool or other community setting. All decisions for frequency and location of therapy are the decision of the Committee on Preschool Special Education. After the evaluations are complete and decisions are made with you as a committee member, the district or you as the parent can call our office to begin the process of scheduling your preschool Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy services.
